So, back in September I started dating this guy.
This guy is great.
Things were going well. I was constantly shocked he kept calling me since I'm such a spaz and he's, well, not. But he did keep calling. This was a good sign.
Fast-forward to the week of Thanksgiving. He came over to my apartment and we were watching Castle (because Nathan Fillion is The Best.) and then said, "I have some news that's going to upset you." He then proceeded to tell me that he'd be moving to Singapore for a (kick-ass) new job. He'd be there for a year. He'd leave in January.
Now, sometimes I have this curious problem of overreacting. And y'all. I seriously overreacted. I turned into Bella Swan for about a week and a half. That lead to a lot of wallowing and not a lot of reading.*
Then after Thanksgiving, Boyfriend and I sat down and talked about everything and reached an agreement on how to proceed. (We are going to proceed, for those of you who were wondering.) But because he's leaving January 7th and I basically won't see him (with the exception of maybe two weeks when I take my vacation to go visit him.) for a year, I've been spending as much time as possible with him. Which means that I've been doing not a lot of reading and a lot of spending-time-with-Boyfriend.
But fear not! I love this here bloggy blog something fierce and I WILL return to it in 2012 when I will have beaucoups of time to read and blog and not be sad at all.
So! That's my story. Judge me as you see fit. Leave your judgment in comments if you so choose. And, above all, have a wonderful, fabulous, joyous, relaxing, delicious, merry, and bright holiday season!
*For the probably two of you who are curious about the status of my work-in-progress, it's still around. It's also be neglected due to my emotional derailment/realignment. But I'll start working on it again soon. Thank you for your concern. :)
I'm sorry that you will not be seeing each other for a year & I won't even give you platitudes like "Absence makes the heart grow fonder" and all that stuff, because really, that is not helpful. I hope everything works out.
ReplyDeleteI did long distance (granted, not international...but about 8 hours apart) for 4 and a half years. I always tell people, the only reason you do it is because it would hurt more not to...If you guys work at it, you'll come out with a stronger relationship and amazing communication skills. Hang in there!
ReplyDeleteI'm not going to lie, long distance relationships can be hard. I'm in one now (I'm in CT, he's in MO) but it's honestly given us a stronger relationship in my opinion and our communication skills are out of this world because they have to be. Hang in there, in no time at all you guys will be back together! :)
ReplyDeletebest of luck to the both of you!
ReplyDeletespend the quality time you need and live it up while you can. the community will be here when you get back.

Hey, if anyone gives you crap about not blogging, that's just silly!
ReplyDeleteI hope he enjoys his kick-ass new job and you enjoy your vacation when you get to go visit! With distance and time frames, it gives you something to look forward to. :) Y'all also have Skype now! Man, things in my past may have ended up differently if there would have been Skype! LOL!
Best of luck to y'all and we'll be here when you return to your blogging!
I'm totally late to commenting and reading this post, but oh well!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy you've found someone you care about! I'm sad that he's leaving for a year :( I kind of want to cry! Seriously... Good Luck to the both of you! I'm hoping his job goes well...at least you get to visit Singapore(hopefully), that's flippin' awesome!
Don't feel bad about not blogging, I took most of December off as well. I went on vacation and I had family visiting since November so I've been spending my time doing other things!
If Jacinda thinks she's commenting late, she can be happy to know I'm commenting even later! I just wanted to say that I'm incredibly happy for you and I hope that things are going well for you both. It's tough to be in an LDR (based on experience, since I've been in one for nearly 2 years), but it works if you really commit to it. Best of luck!
